Creating a better onboarding
Parental control apps are built for providing a responsible digital consumption for every children in the household. Created for helping parents worldwide, these service providers is tackling lots of usability challenges and the biggest issue is partly their problem.
Why... ? talking to a few users of the app, the issues most people face is while on-boarding.
Existing system
The parental control apps needs a lot of permissions ranging from location, profile management, and disclaimer the user should see and agree to. Which But the apps ecosystems like apple and android have been very harsh on the parental control apps because of privacy concerns. Coupled with clunky controls and app specific- jargon, users are struggling to manage their kids screentime.
The onboarding of the existing app started by pushing every permissions one by one
While the user haven't been used to the UI yet, they have to jump back and forth between the app and system UI to agree to all permissions. As it was sequential, it took more than 5 mins to finish the onboarding.
Once completed, the user is presented with a list of features activated.

By Breaking the lengthy onboarding into seperate chunks, the user didn't feel fatigue going through the process in one go.
